Insurance fine print

I took out ABSA Bryce Travel insurance for my wife and I The highest level option 1 for my wife and senior over 70 for myself. Unfortunately due to ill health and long term treatment I had to cancel my trip. All my accomodation was refundable and so the only claims I made were against a clause that states Cancelling an insured journey for a named reason. To the reasonable person this would indicate a payment made due to the inconvenience caused by the trip cancellation. To my detriment I failed to read the detailed description "We pay you for the following: 1) The non-refundable, unused portion of your travel cost, and 2) The non-refundable cost of your unused visas you have paid for." To me the clause in the main schedule is very misleading. All I can say is don't neglect reading the fine print on insurance documents. There is really detail hidden away there that may change your mind on what insurance to use.
