BRYTE WILL LEAVE YOU IN DARKNESS......BEWARE!
Re: Rejection of claim#:***1
''In darkness & uncer*****y, it’s with light that through chaos comes clarity''......''Bryte is the light against risk''……..
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
It is with great disappointment & even greater sadness that I learnt yesterday that my legitimate claim for property damage(due to leaks from pipes)
to my Sectional title unit was rejected. A sectional title unit that has become a home to me for a few years now, where i can lay down my head at night after returning from work at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town & saying” Thank you God for the roof over my head & for allowing me to be of service to my community & South Africans of all denominations”.
I will not bore you with the technicalities of the claim & rejection thereof, that is plain to read in the letter(not official) that I received via email yesterday. But a few points to bring you up to speed:
§ I do not agree(respectfully) with the outcome of the claim as the leaks were from the bursting of stacker pipes(as confirmed to me by Rabat Village body Corp chairman Mr. K. Hartley).
§ The leaks happened over a few years, were devastating & caused severe damage as can be seen now in pictures.
§ If there was water damage due to burst geysers or bathroom leaks from upstairs units from mine, I can assure you that the damage that can be seen could not have been caused by them.
§ I was advised it was an ‘error’ on my side that I did not report or lodge a claim immediately after the water damage to the property, but how could I?? Had the assessor come to the flat after the lodged claims no damage would have been seen with the naked eye. The damages were only evident after a few months where lifting of the laminating floors, damp spots & mould etc can be seen now.
§ I am not a ‘trigger happy’ person that likes claiming from insurance. I claim only for that which I believe to be legitimate & which is necessary. Many clients of Bryte’s might do this…..I don’t.
§ I read in the letter that the claim cannot be paid due to ‘structural issues’. Why could Bryte not have informed the Body Corporate Or Personix that my unit would not be covered for water damages until these issues were fixed. You have taken money through my portion of levies paid & rejecting it now due to fine print & T’s & C’s……..
Finally, Dear bryte Insurance, I am a civil servant working in the Department of Health at Tygerberg Hospital in the Western Cape.I deal with COVID-19, pneumonia & Tuberculosis patients on a regular basis & have not once turned my back on any patient or their family members when help or assistance was requested from me. A few of these leaks happened during the height of the pandemic, but my focus was not claiming insurance monies from you, but rather my work & service to the patients afflicted. Had I concentrated on the claims I would not have been able to give my best to my patients. This was clearly ‘mistake’ on my part.
Those words quoted in the beginning of this letter does not reflect the outcome of this claim.
You have shown through the rejection of this claim that the ’bottom line’ is your primary, secondary & only focus. I am truly disgusted that a portion of my hard-earned monies is being paid to bryte insurance. You have truly left my family & me in darkness.
