Poor Service at Zondi Clinic

Good Day

I am writing this email I am not a happy mother to a 3 month old baby who came in for his immunisation of 14 weeks .

The clinic is under staffed , what is worse they mix babies with sick adults that is where my main concern is.

You need to understand that babies/children get infections easier , should the baby get sick or die to infections caused by the grouping of adult patients with sick babies who should be held liable for the baby dying from sicknesses or sleepless night spend at the hospital.

You need to bare in mind that the moment a child is born they have the same rights as adult patient , Zondi nurses cannot I repeat give me a mindless excuse that the people of Zondi feel that its unfair that the kids get treated before them as adults.

Government/Zondi Clinic should provide separate rooms for infants/babies , children apart from the adults sick room and clerk rooms.

I feel as a mother that its not right to expose my child to such careless clinic yet, as still the service you providing is ridiculous to our babies. Hence at the townships we will never go anywhere as we **** each other instead of finding solution , I mean the sisters/ nurses are parents too I just feel so sad for the mere fact that those sisters treat people like that.

Spoke to Sister Mpumi and I told her that I will send an email , I am so angry and I will be moving my child to Mofolo Clinic as the service is way better than the service we get at Zondi.

I am expecting a response from the manager at Zondi Clinic

The Right to Health Care Under the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 Children's right to health care is expressed in two sections of the South African Constitution. Section 27(1) accords the right to have access to health care services, including reproductive health care services, for all South Africans. Section 27(2) obliges the state to take reasonable legislative and other measures, within its available resources, to achieve the progressive realisation of, amongst others, health care rights. Section 28(1)(c), which is that portion of the Bill of Rights dealing specifically with children's rights, states that children have the right to basic health care services. It is also important to note that section 7(2) of the Constitution places an obligation on the state to respect, protect, promote and fulfil all the rights, including health care rights, in the Bill of Rights.
