Be Cautious When Dealing with Z&J Construction and Steelworks
Contractor Reported: Jacques Fourie Company: Z&J Construction and Steelworks Company Registration Number: *** We contracted Jacques Fourie from Z&J Construction and Steelworks to complete home renovations at our property. The work commenced on 29 July 2025 and, although it began well, we soon started experiencing multiple delays and issues with reliability. Over time, the contractor and his team frequently arrived late or failed to show up on site as scheduled. Commitments and timelines that were discussed were not met, and several promised progress updates did not materialize. Despite paying the required deposit to commence with the renovations, Mr. Fourie stopped work completely on 27 October 2025. The main materials paid for were never delivered, leaving the project incomplete and resulting in a financial loss of approximately R25 000.00. We have made several attempts to reach him, requesting that he at least provide the materials already paid for so we could appoint another contractor to complete the work. Unfortunately, there has been no response or further action from him to resolve the matter. During the renovation process, there were also damages caused to parts of our property. These were pointed out to Mr. Fourie with a request for rectification, but no remedial work has been carried out. Our experience with Z&J Construction and Steelworks and Jacques Fourie has been disappointing and unprofessional. Based on our dealings, we advise potential clients to exercise caution and ensure proper due diligence before entering into any agreement. This review reflects our personal experience and is intended solely to inform other consumers.
