Grossly misleading advertising
We left a day early as we were so disappointed. This is an ungraded establishment that displays a 4-star grading on their entrance gate and website and is elsewhere referred to as a "3-star hotel." Their blurb refers to "luxury accommodation" and "true luxury." While comfortable, it is basic and has none of the services required of three or four star establishments e.g. no soap, shampoo or tissues. Rooms are not serviced. The shower has cobwebs and the bathroom coir mat was dirty and left sand when moved. On arrival, we had to wash the crockery and cutlery as it was dirty and greasy, The braai provided was dirty (ashes were not even removed) and worse for wear. Small details could have been attended to e.g. the gas was off so we had no hot water on the first night and the toilet was not flushing. The battery-powered lamp did not function during the (one only) power outage. "Stocked" implies an abundance of game yet, apart from the common animals, we saw no Giraffe, Tssessbe, Waterbuck or Reedbuck. The advertised "luxurious dining room serving excellent South African cuisine" does not exist ("closed" some time ago according to the manager) nor does the "meals on request" service. Not sure what "sundowner event evenings" are but there is certainly no on-site entertainment (other than TV) whatsoever. On the positive side, it is peaceful and quiet. The grounds are neatly maintained and the manager, Petrus, is very friendly and helpful. Am I hyper-critical? Definitely not! An expectation was created but the reality was poor. Note: Subsequent to my complaint to AfriHost, Booking.Com and the establishment, the video making many of the claims appears to have been removed. Some of the wording describing the facilities have been changed e.g. reference to the restaurant. There is still, however, a reference to "luxury" which it is not and the four stars on the gate remains.
