We stayed at the guesthouse from the 19th of December 2025 to the 5th of January 2026. This is the guesthouse at 4 Seagull drive, website https://zinkwazibeachaccess.co.za/. The "manager" is Sergio, the owner Barend. Reasons for the 1 star: 1. When we got there, the house was very dirty, dishes standing at the zink and being washed, stuff like the oven was filthy. It looked and felt like you walked into a house where uncivilized people just walked out an hour before. The stay-in cleaner was helpful and she did start cleaning when we arrived, and was a big help and convenience for the two weeks we were there. She must have arrived the same morning we got there, because the house, as mentioned, was grimy and tacky. 2. We struggled with getting aircons working (its hot and humid in December), since only one set of the remotes' batteries were in working order. After a lot of struggling, trying, resetting etc - it was concluded that the one room's aircon does not work. Sergio assured us that all appliances are in working order. After communicating this with him, over about two days - they said they are not willing to spend money on fixing it, since they are going to demolish the house in the year to come to build units on the erf. After discussing issues with Sergio for the first two days, his replies and answering of his phone became erratic... waiting half a day or more for any reply. Everything in the house like aircons are severely rusted, old, broken. As an example, a bread knife in the drawer's handle was separate / broken off of its blade. So me and my wife slept on the floor for our two week stay - we moved our mattresses to a communal area adjacent to two other rooms where the two aircons worked, those two rooms slept with their doors open to give us cold air while sleeping so the mosquito's wouldn't kill us (we tried sleeping without aircon the first evening... moved the mattresses at midnight) 3. About a week into our stay, there was a noise and some water running down the wall of my parent's room, turns out the geyser also decided to pack up - no hot water for the last week in two bathrooms. Again the same story - they are not willing to spend money on fixing it! So two bathrooms did not have hot water, 3 couples shared the same bathroom to shower, in the room that had no aircon. 4. The room that had no aircon, me and my wife's - the toilet smell was quite awful and it remained like that for our stay - the toilets seem to be on a septic tank system in the house, and this toilet probably has something wrong... pushing up / full, who knows. 5. No braai bak, roster, or rags to clean with. We also had to buy our own toilet paper, it was said it will be provided and that the house has everything one will need! "You must just pitch up" 6. Broken microwave, there was a rusted hole in its bottom on the inside. The first week it worked like that, bouncing as the glass bottoms turns while heating.. and then one day smoke came out of it and it worked no more... 7. ****roaches everywhere - we killed at least 10 inside the house (also bats in the one small locked room, one tried to come out past us in the evening whilst at the dinner table! 8. One bathroom's sink and another's bath did not want to drain. 9. We were told there are working fridges, but there wasn't, if we did not drive our own box fridge with we would have been stuck with a lot of frozen food and a big problem. There was a broken fridge + freezer in the garage (we were told both were in working order). The fridge (+freezer space) in the house did work, however at first we thought the fridge part was broken as well, since it took about two days to start freezing it's content. The location of the house is superb though.
