ZigZag Cafe Too Loud

Newly opened ZigZag Cafe on ZIgZag road in Springs Gauteng opened on the last weekend (Saturday 19 December and Sunday 20 December). The "music" at this event, especially on Sunday, was broadcast with enough volume that it could be heard eight city blocks away. The situation was reported to the South African Police Services (SAPS) numerous times through the weekend. SAPS informed us that ZigZag Cafe had received a permit for the "party", we however questioned if the permit permitted the annoyance and abuse of the sound waves in the neighbourhood. We are of the opinion that the city by-laws would still regulate the volume of sound permitted, and "they" were well over such a limit. SAPS further informed us that the "party" would end at 22h00. It did not. After another barrage of phone calls to the SAPS, a vehicle was sent to the establishment and the raucous ended at 22h28, with much relief.
