Worst dealership award goes to Zido Cars

On the way 25th October I went to view a VW Polo GTI at Zido Cars based in Benoni. I was dissatisfied with the condition of the terms and terms associated with the agree. The primary reason for my decision to cancel my finance application was the exorbitant interest rate of 17.5%, which, despite being reduced to 15.5%, remained unpalatable to me. Additionally, there were several issues and discrepancies that had raised concerns during this process which I felt compelled to bring to their attention.

Arm Rest and Missing Lighter:During my interactions with Jaque, he informed me that the armrest was on backorder and would be delivered by next week Tuesday. The missing lighter was also addressed, and he assured me that it would be resolved.

Spare Keys:Jaque mentioned that the issue of spare keys would need further discussion with the manager. I was advised that I need to pay half of the amount for the spare keys which amount to R1750.

Repair Location:Jaque informed me that if the car experiences issues within the first month, it would be repaired exclusively by your VW specialist. I find it concerning that I am not given the choice of where I can have my vehicle repaired.

Motorite Warranty:Jaque mentioned the Motorite Warranty, which is unlimited. However, it was brought to my attention that in the event of a mechanical failure, I would have to contribute to the payment. Furthermore, my research revealed that Motorite has a history of declining claims. I was not provided with the option to select a more reputable and suitable service provider for this warranty.

MJ's Information:MJ provided differing information, indicating that the armrest would take 2.5 months to be delivered as it had to be ordered from Germany due to a lack of stock. Similarly, the spare key issue would require a partial payment, and it was not the original key. However, MJ assured me that the missing lighter would be replaced.

VW Quotations:When I contacted VW directly, I received a quotation of R4700 (excl VAT) for the armrest, with the assurance of stock availability and a 10-day delivery timeline. However, I was subsequently informed that you had contacted VW and obtained a quotation at half the price. Payment Structure:Mark provided a breakdown of the payment structure for the car, which raised concerns. The purchase price of the car was approximately R130,000, but there were additional charges, including delivery fees, despite the vehicle being collected. Mark explained that road fees could not be app****, as it would raise questions with the bank. Additionally, I noticed a charge for a Car track device, to which I had not agreed.

Given the aforementioned concerns and the unfavorable terms associated with this financing arrangement, I requested the immediate cancellation of the finance agreement. Only to find out three days later that the deal was still not cancelled. Only after escalating the complaint with the SA Consumer Complaints and Motor Industry Ombudsman was I advised that the deal cancelled. Moral of the story, don’t be fooled into signing an agreement that you are not entirely satisfied with.
