Fly by night Furniture Removal Companies

After being let down by a previous removals company in October 2014 I decided to try a local company which I found on the internet. I needed a desk moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town. I asked for a quote, which was very reasonable, and asked if it included insurance. They said yes it does. I had to pay up front and was promised the desk would be collected and delivered in the next few days. <br> <br> The desk was collected but took 3 days to get to Cape Town. When I queried it, they said, that because it was a part delivery, they would be delivering other goods at the same time. <br> <br> When it arrived in Cape Town, it was so damaged it could not be fixed. <br> <br> 1. It went on the back of a open truck and was in the rain for 3 days<br> 2. They had subcontracted a 3rd party without my knowledge to do the delivery<br> 3. The 3rd party did not have insurance and won't pay me out for the damage<br> <br> This has gone on for a year now and they are passing the buck between the 2 companies and won't pay me. We try to support the local guy so he can make a living. Best to go for the big companies and don't get *****ed.
