Unwilling to exchange a gift without a receipt
3 December 2014 - Purchased top as a Christmas gift for my niece. I wrapped the gift and did not include the receipt as I didn't want her to see the price. The top did not fit and she returned to Zara with the top in the gift wrapping on 10 December 2014. The ladies at the till refused to assist her without the slip. She asked to see the manager who also refused to help her without the slip. My niece left the shop in tears, from the frustration of no-one willing to help her. I was very upset to see how upset she was about a gift that was supposed to make her happy, not upset her.
There was no time to get back to Zara before we all went away on holiday. During the holidays, I read in the Sunday Times about a Gift Receipt. This was the first time I had heard about one.
Finally, when we got back from holidays and I managed to get the top back from my niece, I returned to Zara on 30 January 2015. They now refused to help me because of their 30 day returns policy. The main problem is the attitude. There is no empathy and no-one cares and this time it was my turn to be reduced to tears from frustration. They said I could complete a Customer Service sheet and to date no-one has responded.
