******** before customer

Was given 2babygrows as a Xmas gift from a friend in Umhlanga who is a regular customer in Gateway. I Opened the gift Xmas day and the shops security magnet was still attached to the sleeves. I visited the menlyn store after the holiday period and explained the situation. Under no circumstance can they remove it and after requesting to speak to a manager he said I could fill in a report for customer service who would contact me. I received a mail with there policy stating Zara customers need proof of purchase for all exchanges or refunds and no credit card slip nor bank statement is equivalent to a purchase receipt. However...problem no.1 the purchaser did not keep the slip and secondly I am not asking for an exchange or refund . I am the clients friend who received the gift and the client was served at the tills by staff who should have done there job competently andremoved the magnet and clearly the security magnet was not in working order because it did not go off at the door which is why the client was not aware that the magnet was on the babygrows.

So I am clearly the outsider who became the ******** before even being the customer due to Zara's incompetence.

I fully understand if I requested a refund or exchange which I previously did with a pair of pants size small and I needed a medium. I was refused to change the size due to no purchase receipt as stated in the Zara policy. Hence i had to give the garment which cost me R600 away.

I should not have to be held responsible for Zara's *********** staff and faulty security system. The menlyn staff have a no care attitude and literally wash there hands in front of you with the dirty looks you get as just another customer complaining!
