Let the buyer beware (of online shopping)

I purchased a set of two round hair brushes on Zando last month. The brand was listed as BLKT and the description listed them as ceramic hair brushes. Well, they arrived and definitely not ceramic and the brand on the packaging said Lily - looks like the cheap hair brushes you see sold in corner shops (I actually have ceramic brushes and can tell the difference). Like underwear and pierced jewelry, brushes are not returnable so I didn't bother trying to return it, however I did write a very specific review of the item on the Zando app. After adding my review, the app notified me that my review would be screened and then posted. That was more than a week ago. This is the 2nd time that I gave a bad review that wasn't posted. I understand the need to screen reviews as some people are just petty, vindictive or downright rude but good or bad, reviews should be a tool for other buyers to make informed choices about what they are buying. Withholding bad reviews that speak specifically to defects, deficiencies, poor quality and misleading advertising does not inspire confidence in consumers particularly when the seller is an online platform - that kind of lack of transparency plus misleading descriptions makes it look like they have something to hide. Will certainly have me thinking twice about shopping with them.
