Unsafe Trailer from Zander Digital Synergy / Danmar Trailers Sign-Off
Urgent Complaint – Unsafe Trailer from Zander Digital Synergy / Danmar Trailers Sign-Off

03 Sept 2025, 11:54We recently purchased a meat chiller trailer from Zander Digital Synergy). The trailer was inspected and signed off by Danmar Trailers.
The trailer was purchased in Pretoria. On our way back to Cape Town, we stopped to refuel and discovered that axel had separated completely from the frame because it had not been fixed properly. Had we not stopped, this would almost certainly have come loose while driving at high speed on the open road.
We immediately attempted to report this to the manufacturer, Mr. Holtzhausen, but he stopped taking our calls. We even tried to reverse the payment, but it was already too late. From 14 July until today, we have been unable to make contact with him. As a result, we had no choice but to return to Johannesburg to have the trailer repaired before it was safe to continue to Cape Town. I do not want to imagine the outcome if this had failed while we were driving at 120 km/h.
Upon our arrival in Cape Town, we discovered yet another fault: the chiller box had come dangerously loose from the frame since it was only fixed with pop rivets. Again, we are deeply concerned about what could have happened had this unit come loose during our journey — the potential damage to vehicles behind us or even injuries to people are unthinkable.
To date, Mr. Holtzhausen has ignored all our calls and messages.
It is extremely disappointing that a manufacturer would endanger lives by producing substandard trailers and then refuse accountability. Equally concerning is that Danmar Trailers signed off and issued a NATIS certificate without properly inspecting the trailer.
We have since repaired these issues at our own cost (we are not claiming compensation for that). What we are complaining about is:
1. Zander Digital Synergy manufacturing unsafe trailers.
2. Danmar Trailers signing off on these unsafe trailers without proper inspection.
