Refusal to compensate and overall bad service

I am terribly disgusted with the type of service that is rendered at Y.T's Material Place and Patel's Fabric Land C148/C150 located inside the Oriental Plaza JHB. On the 23rd February 2019 we approached the shop to purchase material for my son's Matric Banquet which took place end of March. While choosing material we asked for advice and we were assured that the material we liked is durable and the very best to make any attire with. We took the material to the dress maker and they made the suit but immediately on trying the garment, it tore. They tried adding piping to hold it but it was not very durable as it tore once more. The dressmaker asked if the person who sold us the material explained that it is not the best type for making garments like suits which Mr Patel did not. He assured us that it will hold well. When I contacted the shop for a refund they gave me the run around and lots of stories. They do not want to refund me anything after charging me R1200.00 knowing that the material is not best suited for making garments to be worn with.

I feel that the shop and this Mr Patel should have been honest as we asked for advice beforehand and he should not have been focussed on making a quick sale. Now we wasted more than R2000 on the material as well as trying to make the suit. I would advise people to search elsewhere when purchasing material and to approach someone that will focus on selling the best deal for you money, not just for making a sale thus *****ing you, the customer over. Mr Patel did not even deem it right to refund me just a portion of the money I paid for said material as it is now useless.
