Cupboard Installation by Shamiel

I regret ever hiring Shamiel for my cupboard installation.

The cupboards were delivered on a Thursday, but installation only began two days later. From the very start, the job was handled with no urgency and even less professionalism.

The work was left incomplete — drawer fronts and a cupboard front had to be recut. Shamiel promised to return the following week to finish, but i was away on business. The following week, he still didn’t come, claiming he had to complete other jobs to “make money” before attending to mine.

Instead, he eventually dropped a worker at my house on a Saturday, left, and even tried to sweet-talk me into paying for the worker’s Uber home. The worker couldn’t complete the job, told Shamiel as much, but nothing was done. Shamiel later said it was “too expensive” to return and that I should’ve made sure the worker finished before leaving — shifting responsibility back onto me, the paying client.

The workmanship itself was unacceptable:

Push-close drawer rails were replaced with standard rails.

Drawer and cupboard fronts don’t align.

Cupboard joins were smeared with glue, which I had to clean off myself.

Wood shavings were left inside cupboards and drawers.

Hanging rails were missing or left loose and un*****ed.

Shelves were skew and out of alignment, with visible holes from failed adjustments.

Cupboards were fixed to the wall with backing boards exposed, leaving the installation visibly unfinished.

I ended up realigning shelves and making adjustments myself — something no paying customer should ever have to do.

This isn’t just poor workmanship. It’s a complete lack of accountability and pride in one’s work. Customers should not have to act as foremen, clean up after contractors, or chase someone who has already been paid. I trusted Shamiel to deliver what I paid for, and he failed.

Warning to others: Inspect every detail before making any payment — check the boards, alignment, fittings, and finishing. Once Shamiel is paid, getting him back to complete the job happens only on his terms, not yours.

When I raised my dissatisfaction that the work was unfinished, his response was dismissive: “I had my guy onsite for the entire day to sort out the list you wanted.. I will not give up time again..”

This attitude sums up the experience — money taken, promises broken, and zero accountability.
