XDS - Ask them to elaborate on their vague questions
Whoever thought, replacing your account card would be SO embarrassing! A year ago, I lost my belongings (my handbag with EVERYTHING in it). I managed to cancel everything and go through the whole rigmoral of getting most of what I need replaced. I cancelled the cards that went and slowly replaced what I needed. Today, I decided that I would go to Totalsports Tygervalley to get a new card. The lady who helped me was FANTASTIC! However, there was an issue with something on the system that had to involve XDS Credit Bureau. The young lady made the call to them and handed me the phone. I was asked questions like: What is my address, how long have I had a cellphone account (I have 3 numbers and and internet account listed with my service provider so if one was to get technical, I have 4 accounts with the same provider), where do I buy clothes and what was the amount I paid to my Personal Loan account in January of this year. All valid questions... although, my address could be a PO Box number or one of 2 addresses (both the same address, just one in an old format and one new so I provided her with them all), the one Cellphone number I've had since 1999 so, I must have got a contract a few years later, the other accounts might not be so old but they are well established...as for the clothes... that was a bit general and rather vague (I bought a top from a shop the other day but it's predominantly the normal chainstores if I was to purchase clothes) and the amount I paid to a personal loan account? I gave her the amount that I pay... not the amount that gets debited because the question was: what was the amount you paid to your personal loan account in January? If she had asked what the amount is that is debited to my Personal Loan, it would have been a very different answer. I answered them honestly. The phone was then handed back to the lady behind the desk who was told that my answers were incorrect and that in order to verify everything, they would require 3 months bank statements, a copy of my ID (and probably my blood type). I was a bit annoyed and decided to cancel my account. An account that I had had since 2003 which was in credit of R49.35 in it. In order to get that paid to me, I would have to fill in paperwork. I was quite annoyed at this stage so I told them to keep that money (which the TFG lady on the phone was more than happy to do.) I then went on to check XDS Credit Bureau, only to find that, the payment I made to my personal loan account hadn't reflected, the debit order amount was listed but there was no debit order that had been deducted in January so there was no credit reflecting for January). My Totalsports account was reflecting that I could purchase for R44,000.00 when in actual fact my Totalsports statement that I get every month reflects a VERY different amount that was considerably less (probably not their fault but since it seems like they're working directly with TFG, I thought things would more correct). My previous places of employment were kind of incorrect (probably not their fault again - looks like typos). I haven't bought clothes in ages so there were no clothing transactions... but I listed the places I would have possibly bought from the last time when I spoke to the lady The entire issue is the fact that I wasn't sharp enough to question the lady on the otherside at XDS. The answers to the questions were correct... but the questions were VERY vague. I was also told by the young lady at Totalsports that I shouldn't worry, a lot of people have been told their answers to these STUPID questions are wrong. I felt quite humiliated and a bit of a ***** when infact, I shouldn't have to feel that way. I will be QUITE prepared for them next time.
