Treatment of black customers at Wynberg Phamacy - Wynberg Cape Town

On the 13th of February around 1245 i walked into Wynberg Pharmacy using the Car Park entrance, like i have always done in the past 11 years. I asked a very friendly lady where i could get the Havaianas flip flops and she pointed me to a corner. I proceed to go through the flip flops and chose my size and i tried on the pair i wanted, when i was satisfied with my fitting a lady rocked up and said firstly you are not allowed to try them, i apologized cheerfully and said but there was no sign to indicate that and she went on to pull out something from under the flip flops and said "this is what you are supposed to use not bring in your dirty feet and spoil the flip flops. By then i did not like the tone of her voice, i maintained my cool and kept quiet. She proceeded to ask me in a a very rude tone " are you even going to buy the flip flops" by then i was getting angry because i had not done anything to warrant this type of behavior. I told her to leave me alone as i did not like where this was going, she then proceeded to grab the slippers from me, i was thinking what wrong had i done now? i told her i have fitted them on and they fit me perfectly and i want to proceed to pay and i did not understand why she was snatching them away from me. At that moment i told her its not right to look at someone and conclude they do not have the money or could not afford something just by merely looking at them. I told her why are you going like this, is it because i am black, you see a black person and you see poverty or suspect they are a *****? She was still behaving like i had done something wrong. By then our conversation had drawn the attention of one of her colleagues who came over and asked if something was wrong and i told her i did not like what this lady was insinuating. i felt so disrespected, how can you be treated like this for walking into a shop and wanting to buy. why this humiliation? I have been shopping at Wynberg Phamacy for 11 years and the atmosphere has always been friendly and inviting. I asked to see her Supervisor and she took me to the tills and said one of the ladies was her Supervisor and i refused to talk to her and said i wanted the Manager, eventually a lady came out and apologized for the behavior of her staff and promised to look into this and Speak to some Stephen when he was back. She asked for my contact details and i gladly gave them to her, that was the last i heard from them. Did i want them to have a apology party with me, or write an apology over and over again NO but a note to say this type of behavior is rooted out of their shop Yes

I have commended the type of merchandise in the Pharmacy and how creative their buyer is, Wynberg Pharmacy is no ordinary Pharmacy it is a one stop shop where you get all your goodies, from washing powder, Mazoe orange and your medicines , while your car is parked securely behind the shop and it has always been a pleasure to walk in and get your stuff and go but after my experience i will think twice before i set foot in the pharmacy and i will spread the message to all black people i know and who are in the vicinity of the pharmacy that its a no go area for people of color. I do not pick the race card carelessly but in this instance i was treated badly purely because of my color. I do not like the politics of the EFF but in cases like these they are right. I must copy them and i think a visit from them or some attention on Wynberg Pharmacy will teach your ****** staff member a thing or two about the history of South Africa. (refer to what happended to Adam Catzavelos) Mandela did not go to jail for this. Totally dissapointed in you Wynberg Pharmacy .
