Judgemental nurses

I was just at the n1 city blood donating centre and there's an elderly nurse there who was very judgemental about my life style choices. Yes I like piercings and because of you I haven't had any done in six months but to use the tone with me that she did was disgusting. I understood exactly what she said to me about not feeling comfortable about a piercing which is struggling to heal. But the way she was like no I should take it out immediately and she'd never do that to herself she didn't care about how I would feel what she said those things and think she needs some serious training Listening instead of forming bias opinions. The other younger coloured lady was very nice though and tried to make me feel better. I think retire the old set in your way generation and let the youth lead.

Dear Almitra.
As promised we followed up with all parties concerned. We are truly sorry about your unfortunate experience with us. Our donors and recipients' health and well-being is of utmost importance to us. We also always strive to ensure that our donors are educated re. blood donation.
As piercings poses a risk there is a deferral period of six months from the time of piercing due to potential risk of infection from shared or dirty needles. If a piercing site is unhealed, it poses an infection risk to the recipient of the blood product (if the donor has infection at the piercing site, there is potential for the infection to be transmitted to the recipient via their blood product).
We hope this explanation suffices and we do hope to see you back soon.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.
Kind Regards,
The WP Blood Team
