Workmens Compensation Commissioner

Review of poor service delivery on the Workmens Compensation Commissioner. Im writing to share with all persons dependent on receiving payment from the Workmens Compensation Commissioner who have been injured on duty payment claims. I've been calling the department (Pretoria and the Regional Office in Cape Town) every month since March 2019 . I always get the same answer that the system is off line and the department is migrating to a new system.

It's now reached a stage where I'm financially broken as I cannot pay my accounts and unable to survive. No one can assist as the standard answer is "sorry we cant assist you as the system is offline"

How do i survive. I even had a stroke from all the stress am getting from the organisations whom I owe payment. How are other people surviving without receiving any form of payment/remuneration/compensation.

There is no empathy towards me or others who are in a similar situation like me. Due to the seriousness of my injury I could not perform my duties and my contract was ended. I cannot walk.

I believe that there must be a way to ensure payment to those that are now dependent on receiving some form of compensation. I didn't belong to a fund. All I request that some compensation to be paid to me. I'm extremely disappointed that the issue of my compensation is not yet finalised. In this day and age we have become reliant on technology but it seems that it's an hindrance to serving the broader community. Is there no manual administrative system the department can use to at least ensure the injured members receive some form of remuneration/compensation.The Batho Principle is not adhered to. All I hear when contacting the call centres "no the system is not yet on line", but this cannot go on for a whole year,I.e. next month, next month etc.If the system is not on line what are your employees doing since no work is been done. All your employees is receiving their salaries, but we that are suffering and receiving threats that our houses and cars will be repossessed cannot receive what is due to us. The injury I sustained was on the principle of pIeasing and delivering services to the community. I would like to ask the Honourable Minister and you as civil servants that the salary is fruitless expenditure. Is the system that is supposed to be fast tracking claims who is responsible for this fiasco. The government has it's own system and the Treasury frowns when departments do not use SITA. Due to all the stress and the severe injury sustained my husband suffered a stroke and is unable to talk, walk and always in pain. No joy just next month. What are unions doing about this. How many others are facing financial crisis. How come the press never get to report on these issues. I would like that any person who is in a similar situation get our voices to be heard. The Honourable Mr President you were a champion on the rights of citizens to be paid a living wage. Please people and our politicians treat this matter with the urgency it deserves.
