Woolworths weasels out if its responsibilities
During lockdown I have been making regular use of Woolworths online. I tried to use the credit voucher which accrues as a result of my spending on my Woolworths card.
I emailed the rewards Programme to ask how to do this. I received a curt reply to the effect that I can only use it in person.
As an older person with several co-morbidities I am unable to leave home to use my card at the store during the lockdown. It cannot be beyond the capabilities of Woolworths to enable the use of the credit online. I can therefore only interpret this as an attempt by Woolworths to avoid paying an amount due to me.
Almost every company in South Africa has made special efforts to assist their customers in this most difficult of times. Woolworths, a company which promotes itself as a progressive, socially responsible, good corporate citizen seems to have taken the opposite view and seen this as an opportunity to shirk its responsibilities to its loyal customers.
As the proverb has it. ...handsome is as handsome does. Ina crisis we see the ugly side of Woolworths
