Woolworths not so full worth
On Friday 19 February 2021 at or around 15:41 I went to Woolworths Adderley street in Cape Town to take advantage of the 50% sale. I picked a pair of shoes and proceeded to the tills to make payment. As I was queueing there was a lady behind me who had a mask below her nose and who was uncomfortably close to me ie not observing social distancing. I kept on trying to move away until I ran out of space. I then asked the lady to move backwards to allow for social distancing and to cover her nose properly. The lady literally attacked me verbally and insulted me. This all happened in full view and hearing of all the staff that were on duty at the tills. To my surprise none of them said anything. Instead, they simply called to help her as if I was the crazy one to insist on social distancing and proper wearing of mask. The lady that was assisting me was Zimkhitha Mjakado. I told her I was going to raise the complaint with head office and she seemed to not give a care about that as she simply said ok. I immediately called head office when I got to my car. The manager whom I recall identified himself as Faiz or Charles (not sure) called me the same day and requested me to give him 2 days to follow up and get back to me. He said he wanted to trace the customer for reasons which I am not even clear on and didn’t see anything wrong with his staff continuing to assist a customer that is attacking another customer right in front of them. He has not gotten back to me until today. I then opted to write on the Woolworths Facebook page regarding my complaint and I was told someone would get to me. Only today (1March) I got a call from a lady called Musa who identified herself as “one of the managers” of the store and she told me that their staff are undergoing training. When I asked what or how they will resolve my complaint she had nothing to say and requested to get back to me. I have no hope as I am now on the third week of waiting for the first manager to get back to me. So basically I had a possible life threatening experience in Woolworths and third week going Woolworths hasn’t done anything about it.
