Woolworths - not good enough!

Very disappointed in Woolworths Longbeach Mall, Noordhoek. As a customer from their opening day I found reason to return goods for the first time on Saturday. Friday night I discovered that 3 bags of imported Kenyan peas were totally mushy and smelled sour - Friday was their best before date. One can surely expect goods to be edible on their "best before" date as had always been the case up to then. I returned the two unopened bags the next morning and was told they could not be swopped for edible ones as their best before was the previous day and they doubted I had maintained the cold chain correctly. Condescending is the only way I can describe the attitude of the person called by customer services to deal with my query. My response to him was not very polite before I left the store. I find it hard to believe it is a company wide policy to lose customers over two bags of peas, but that is what has happened as I cannot see myself ever returning to the store.
