WOOLWORTHS NEGLIGENTS CAUSING INJURY

I refer to an incident that happened to my wife, which incident occurred on 7 December 2023 at approximately 13h55 in the Woolworths, Olympus Village Shopping Centre, c/o Olympus Drive and Achilles Road, Olympus, Pretoria.

An employee of Woolworths carried a box containing glass bottles of sparkling wine. He carried the box in his hands and neglected to utilise the mandatory trolley / cage to move the boxes in the store.

The box opened / break opened at the bottom, resulting in the entire content of glass bottles to fall out and break on the floor.

Glass shrapnel scattered everywhere and lacerated my wife on the inside of her ankle.

Woolworths failed and neglected to handle and / or transport the glass bottles in a safe manner, which failure establish the risks involved and failed in taking the necessary required health and safety measures in safeguarding the risk of injury and resulted in injuring my wife.

Woolworths failed in their legal duty towards the public in making sure their shop is safe for public use and, furthermore, failed to warn the public of any danger.

Woolworth’s omission to implement safety measures, and therefore failed in their legal duty towards the public, was the direct cause of the injuries and damages suffered and sustained by my wife.

A letter informing Woolworths of the incident, including demand for claiming damages sustained, has been sent to Woolworths (Pty) Ltd as well as Woolworths Holdings Limited.

Up to date no response from the relevant department(s) was received. Not even enquiring about the incident.

Again an example of Goliath hoping that David will retreat but not in this case.
