Woolworths ignores the Consumer Protection Act

<p>Bought a Samsung cellphone at Northgate Woolworths less than 2 months ago. Returned it yesterday as it had become faulty - turning off and on at will and I could only access the content if I removed the battery and replaced it again. According to them the phone has to go into MTN for repairs as they only have a 7 days return policy. This would apparently take about 4 weeks! Told me to go to MTN, Cresta who would fix it on the spot. Apparently this is not the case as whenI took it to them today they said that as they had not sold the phone directly to me it had to go in for repairs. 7 to 14 working days. Left the phone with them and only this evening remembered about the CPA! So, Woolworths, where do we stand now, bearing mind that Wendy Knowler states in RDM "..... insisting on a repair as the only recourse for a defective product, from day eight after purchase, is a blatant contravention of the CPA."</p>
