Woolworths (Hyde Park this time) does the Horrid customer (dis)service again, and again

Woolworths (Hyde Park this time) does the Horrid customer (dis)service again, and again, well, for the umpteenth time. About 19h30, Friday, August 12, 2022, I walk briskly into Woolworths Hyde Park to pick up a few items. A cashier, Ms. Bonolo Mphela (as reflected on the receipt) at the checkout packs shower gel and aerosol air spray with foodstuffs without wrapping the chemical products in the shopping bag with a barrier bag which she knows pretty well she must do, but elects to totally set aside the policies of the company, and I realise when I get home, and look into the shopping bag, and I shocked, because the spray could leak or burst, and get mixed up with the foodstuff, and what do you have: a life-threatening severe case of food poisoning. Do Woolworths cashiers care, no, they don't, meaning, it is not the first time I have complained to Woolworths top management about this type of horrid service. The next time you buy anything from Woolworths and you get despicable service, complain vehemently yes, yet know this: horrible customer service is what Woolworths does much too well. They hardly ever seem to get it right, except that one unique employee once in a blue moon. The cartel (oligopolistic) economy we have in the retail sector in our country, is what makes it easy for lousy retailers such as Woolworths to get away with horrid customer service, because variety and wide choice in our country, such that Woolworths shoppers can easily substitute another echelon retailer for Woolworths is essentially limited space, if any. All the same, it is small wonder the Woolworths share price has been pummeled in recent years, and the departure of the Aussie has not done much to persuade the markets to once more believe in the brand as they did in the past. Enzo better start cracking the whip here, customer service is really horrid at Woolworths, obviously the customer-facing employee programmes are below par, clearly. For a company established in the 1950s and a market cap (Bloomberg) of ZAR58bn, certainly they can afford to train their staff better, for heaven's sake. But soon, the day will come, when major top echelon retailers from G7 and OECD countries, who will enable us shoppers to easily dump Woolworths, for something far better, with better quality of products (since 63% of Woolworths products are now made in China, where's the quality and durability there?) as it happened to car makers of EVs, and now they have to play catch-up to newbies. The Japanese Muji brand can easily replace Woolworths in SA. When that comes, it will be goodbye Woolworths. Enzo, your cashiers are not jacked up, neither are your Woolies Dash folks who last time delivered what was essentially a damaged product, which I simply threw into trash can after I called the store to complain. Sincerely, the customer service at Woolworths, everywhere, from Hyde Park to V&A needs major efforts at improvement, every day improvement: Gemba Kaizen.
