WOOLWORTHS DON'T WANT MY BUSINESS

Recently I tried to make a card purchase from Woolworths and they said I needed a new card. I had to make 4 trips into Pinetown to (not pleasant) in order to finally get this card. I don't use it often, but have paid my account every month and in fact think I am in credit as I always overpay.

This morning I wanted to use the online store that they have been advertising, in order to get a nice discount and free delivery (Because Woolworths would not/could not allow my wife to purchase on line wither with her Woolworths card or Mastercard).......

1. Their web site does not recognise my ID number! I had to take them a certified copy AND my ID to get the card!

2. It would not process my purchase and said there was a problem with my account.

3. I called the Cape Town number and was eventually told I had to speak to Financial Services. They put me through at 07.58 and a recording told me their working hours. I was disconnected.

4. After 8 am I called again and was eventually (after many different people and much bland music) put through to Financial Services who told me my account was not in arrears. He then put me through to Client Services (long wait, music)

5. Sipho (I think) after me identifying myself for the umpteenth time with my card number ID number (not recongnised) email address, physical address and cell number, eventually told me that I was not allowed to make on-line purchases until I have used my card 5 times physically at a store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My question to him was "Do I now have to go to Woolworths during the Christmas rush and buy something, go out and then go back in and buy something again 5 times in order to be able to come home and not have to fight the Christmas rush crowds and purchase on line?"

"No" he said, "you have to do this on 5 different days."

I am flabberghasted!!! What the hell???????????????

My wife pruchases on line from Spree, Superbalist and other stores with ease.

Who the hell is in charge of this and makes these rules? Why Does the person in charge still have a job? Who on earth runs their IT department?

I have (well my wife really) had a Woolworhts account and paid exhorbitant amounts of money to Woolworths for over 20 years.

Can someone tell me why people still shop there?
