Woolworths Dash delivers yet another damaged product to customer

Bad service is the usual thing at Woolworths. We have a cartel economy which is quite oligopolistic in South Africa, and therefore, we do not a G7/OECD situation where choices of retailers are varied and numerous, hence, this despicable service from retailers such as Woolworths. My WDash order #*** [Thursday, July 28, 2022, from their Rosebank branch, one of the worst stores in the retail group] was delivered by their usually tardy drivers with was essentially a damaged and unusable product: a pack of serviettes which had the entire topside with a tear running right accross the plastic wrapping, but still, true to character with bad service, their packer, probably eager to save their own behind, packed it anyway, and hoped I would not spot it; for the love of Christ, honestly. It's not the first time: Woolworths service is generally horrid. The paradoxical irony here is that: when the service should have improved since my salad days in the late 1970s to the early 1990s, it's instead gotten worse over time since the early 1990s and has simply been on the decline ever since. I have often complained about this, but it seems to be a case of terrible training and no reinforcement of their policies related to customer service among their employees. There is something wrong at the top, and it plays out at the bottom, among the cashiers, packers and commissioned drivers. The fish rots from the head.

Anyway, I sent a message to the retailer to come get their damaged product, which I will not use, since it is patently, unusable.

Woolworths is such a ****py retailer Re customer service, you would be forgiven for thinking they started trading only yesterday. Their employees are essentially, careless, callous, and there seems to be a culture of half-heartedness about great customer service. Aside from the declining quality of products [with now about 63% from China] over the last 12 years while the packaging got fancier, the Cape Town-HQ'ed retailer's worsening household and apparel departments, was no surprise, hence the droop in their share price over the arc of the Ian Moir era. That share price did not droop because of fancy decisions gone wrong - which they certainly did, monumentally - but due to generally ****py customer service; the basis of all decline in any business, as we have recently witnessed with Credit Suisse [a company 'under fire']. Therefore, if you shop at Woolworths, beware of despicable customer service. Woolworths, thanks for nothing.
