Woolworths cancelled credit life cover and claiming fees from his wife now

My late husband had a Woolworths store account. He lost his job during covid. In June 2021 his deathcover was cancelled and he passed away on 2 July 2022 of covid I unfortunately survived covid. I have to sell my house now to pay his debt. He had this Woolworths account for over 20 years. Please consider this and why did you not leave his credit life cover on? Why should I sell my house now to pay this?
