Woolworths blatantly price loading in festive season!

I have been a frequent and loyal customer at Woolworths Foods for many years. In the past year a store opened at The Majik Forest Shopping Centre which presented an ideal opportunity for me to prove to my family that Woolworths is not more expensive than Spar. For instance: a month or so ago I had run out of sugar (something that I had not bought for a very long time). When I saw how expensive sugar had become, I asked my daughter to run over to Spar to check their price on 2,5 kg refined white sugar. My theory was once again proven correct when we discovered that Spar was 10 % more expensive than Woolworths and I was just out of touch with the going rate of sugar. Until today, 22 December. I always buy six packs of Long life Full cream milk and for the past year the price has consistently been R72,99. This is one of many items that seem to permanently be on special at Woolworths. Today, 3 days before Christmas, the price was R111.99. This constitutes a 53 % increase from a week or so ago and is 49 % more expensive than the comparative price (R74,99) at Spar. Another example: 900 g Gouda or cheddar cheese has been on special at R109 for almost the entire year, but today the price was R174,99. This constitutes a, 61 % increase in the last month or so. Comparatively 900 g Lancewood Cheddar or Gouda currently sells for R99 at Spar. Woolworths is 77 % more expensive than Spar! Is this how Woolworths rewards loyal customers? Load your prices by between 50 and 70 % in the hope that customers do not notice what they are paying because everybody is tired and over worked just before they leave to spend time with their families? This is a blatant way of taking advantage of customer's vulnerabilities. This is a time for good will and peace but Woolworths is blatantly taking advantage of their customers in a time of economic hardship. I will be telling every person I know by mail. by social media and by word of mouth to be sure not to purchase from Woolworths foods in what is left of the festive season. And if I don't get a response on this complaint within a day, I will also try to speak to a few media outlets. Don't take advantage of your customers. They are not stupid!
