Woolworth refusing to close my account because of 9cent

Im disappointed with woolworth refusing to close my account because my account is owing 9c nine cents. The irritating part is when I pay the balance at springs mall, I stated to the cashier that the intentions for the payment is to close the account. Iwas surprised when I call woolworth to close the account when they tell me that I owe 9cent.
