Woolworse Experience

I opened an a store card account via the phone with Woolworths in February 2018. I requested that my card be send via the post to my residential address in the north of Johannesburg. While I was waiting for the card, three weeks passed with a card, and late March 2018, i received a call from Woolworths informing me that my account was being used **********ly in Durban. They closed the account and advised that I complete a dispute form and submit my ID coy of which I did.

I was advised that the investigation process will take 14 days. The proposed date past with no communication from the investigating team. I decided to phone them to check up what was going on. I was informed that my dispute documents were not received. I then forwarded them the very same email that I sent previously with my documents. They then started processing my dispute. Early May 2018 I phoned them again after the 14 days waiting period elapsed, and I was then inform that my dispute has been resolved and the account has been cleared. They arranged to send me my new card the following week. To my surprise, I was contacted by the Woolworth debt collector asking that I make payment arrangement of R138.27 service fees of an account I've never used. I phoned the dispute department several times to have this matter resolved, they kept on leaving notes on the account to have it cleared up and provide assurance that my credit score is not affected by the whole issue.

I've been waiting ever since. Today, 21 May 2018, I phoned them again, using my own airtime, only to find that the issue has not been resolved. This is not the way to treat potential clients Woolworths, especially on someone who just commenced a relationship with you. This has been a stressful 3 months of my life, not knowing what's happening with my finances, with statements saying I owe large sums of money, being handed over to debt collectors, God knows what's happening with my credit score. Thank you Woolworths Retail SA, there goes another unhappy, frustrated and fed up costomer.
