Withering woolworths

My brother bought my mom a pair of bedroom slippers just over a year go for mothers day... My God has she watched them crumble day by day. Like that was not enough my sister bought a pair of formal shoes with the intention of using them for a good period of time.... Again these shoes started to peel like a tree in autum. What has gone wrong with woolworths? What happened to quality products that last?
