Why I closed my Woolworths Store Account

I changed banks and informed Woolworths via email of my new bank account details to update my debit order (I always pay the full amount due). When I made a in-store purchase at Woolworths, I was told my account had not been paid and was not allowed to make a purchase. I phoned the call centre and was told what amount I need to pay to settle my account and that I had to make this payment in-store- which I did. After a few months, I decided to examine my account in detail. I found that the account showed debit orders being reversed on my Woolworths account. My bank, Capitec had not record of any debit orders from WFS despite WFS having my correct account information. In addition, WFS, changed my debit order from a full to a minimum payment without informing me, resulting in my being charged interest. Despite both WFS and Capitec not being able to provide any reason why my debit orders did not go off, as well as WFS not informing me that the debit orders were not going off and levying me with a range of financial penalties, WFS refused to consider reversing the various interest and penalty charges levied on my account.

For this poor customer service and lack of acknowledgement of poor communication on WFS part, I have therefore closed my WFS and will no longer be conducting any business with Woolworths in future.
