Very disappointed.
The e mail below was sent on 8 December 2022. I got a response on 17 December 2022 with another reference number after following up on 14 December 2022. I'm still waiting for the store manager to call me as they promised on email and the same store manager was the problem on the day of the incident.
The e mail was as follows: I'm writing this email with a very heavy heart because I have never received this kind of treatment from any woolworths store until now.
1. On 1 December 2022 between 10:00 and 12:00 I visited the Woolworths Store in Sammy Marks PTA CBD (I'm not sure of the exact time because I threw away the purchase slip) 2. I proceeded to the tills where I presented my store card. 3. The lady at the till told me that I cannot buy with my store card because It is damaged, she cannot read the card number nor the initials and surname on the card. 4. I then informed her that I used the same card the day before and it was accepted and that I have been planning to apply for a new one but I will do so as soon as I get time. 5. Upon refusing, she called the (I think the manager/supervisor) Kopano. 6. Kopano looked at the card and informed me that I cannot be assisted with a damaged card. 7. I then explained to Kopano that I will apply for a card but for now can I be assisted with my ID card because I really needed the goods and I needed to go. 8. I went further to inform her that I use the card everyday in my neighborhood east of Pretoria and whenever they are unable to see the details on my card, they ask for my ID card and then assist me. 9. She then informed me that it's not how they operate at Sammy Marks. 10. She then said she can only assist me on condition that I apply for a new card immediately and block the current one. I did not have a problem with that. 11. I asked her to allow me to buy and then I will come back before they close because I was pressed for time, there was a meeting that I had to attend. 12. Kopano refused and said that then I can only purchase the goods later which then compelled me to agree to her condition. 13. The lady at the till continued to till the goods. 14. Then I signed the slip, she then told me that the signature on the card is not the same. With disbelief in my face, I asked her if she thinks I stole the card? 15. I made her aware that I feel very harassed. 16. Kopano then carried my goods to the 1st floor where she told me to stand in line and wait for my turn. 17. I told Kopano once again that I am in a hurry and I have a meeting to attend, she said to me I must stand in the line. 18. Upon ushering me to customer service, she spoke to the two ladies who were assisting customers and showed them the card and told them that I said other stores have been assisting me with the same card. 19. One of the ladies then responded by saying "Let her take us to those shops so we can verify '' she said in Tshwana with a very arrogant tone. 20. Then Kopano said to her "she says she will call head office" 21. The lady responded "It's her choice my darling" 22. I kept quiet, feeling very disappointed I waited my turn in the que. I was finally assisted by a gentleman. Took my goods and left, feeling very belittled. 23. When I arrived at my Office I called Woolworths customer care immediately and I explained exactly what I stated above. 24. I spoke to Edward and he gave me reference number *** and promised that he will escalate the matter for investigation. 25. He told me that I will receive a response within 24 hours. 26. To date I am still waiting for Woolworths to come back to me.
The point I'm making is that I'm not disputing Woolworths policies, it is the attitude and treatment I received on the day.
I am very disappointed.
