Upper end of markets are usually recession proof providing you deliver quality!
My wife loves the brand and has supported it since 2002. We Live in CPT not 5 miles from corporation street where it began in South Africa, as a former manufacturer & supplier I too feel a historic connection to the times when many soft goods and most of the early foods originated at Marks & Spencer Baker Street. S. A. followed then soon overtook the Uk company with inventive marketing and foods to go etc. A very positive H.R. case.. Since the pandemic we only shop on line. 3 employees at click and collect Sea Point Piazza stand out for exceptional customer service & 1 in particular Vuyo actually went the extra mile to await the completion cycle & bring the fresh hot chicken to meet me @ my car on the main road.My wife was ill in bed & home alone so I daren't leave her alone. Vuyo understands client service. He & his small team of Nelly& Niezaam need recognition. VUYO is so good that should actually be promoted & trained for management one day. The manager had my card & cell no. Guess he mislaid it cause he never called me re shortages or bad products. what he never even responded to my complaint! It is a complicated new word changing by the minute. I only learned 2 things in 60 years. Treat people like silly they will come to work without their brains. Select, Train motivate and reward well and they will do anything for the team and the company. It appears the we may be with this pandemic for quite a while yet!.Stores that survive need to up their service game and still be price competitive!
The quality is wanting! I paid a premium at WW for a pack of Fujis 1.5 kg R 31.99 or Top Red 34.99 for 1.5Kg , I expect decent crisp fruit as described both on web & package . I sliced open a few apples and took photos of what I received. . The apples were floury to the taste and feel not 1st grade. The inside had insect spots and dark blotches around the core as if improperly treated by the processing company in Grabou I guess. They also appear to have been in the cold store too long! Management cant clim inside the fruit, but they can ensure the technologists do spot checks to ensure we get what we paid for! Presently with their Avocados the problem is and has been worse for some while but I get almost no response despite several approaches via whatsapp and e mail. Wake up WW! Out of frustration I now am writing to Hello Peter . Lets see if their are still warm bodies at Corporation street HQ ?
I would love a call from senior Manager at WW head quarters. I would like my money back, acknowledgement that there is an issue and an offer of good apples to purchase!
