Unfair treatment of customer

I am extremely unhappy and dissatisfied pertaining the customer service team at Woolworth Somerset West. Last weekend I bought a jean and a dress at Tygervalley Woolworths. I could fit the clothes due to lockdown regulations. At the store I was advised that I could return the items if they dont fit when I get at home. The dress fitted me perfectly but the jean was too small. i misplaced the slip.

on the 10th of October 2020, I went to Somerset Mall to return the jean. I was asked if I had bought the item using the woolworths card and asked if I would like to have another item? I answered no on both. To my shock I was told that I will be given store voucher. this is a disgrace because the jean was bought cash at the store and now I do not understand why woolworths. refuses to give me a cash refund as the item was bought cash. I spoke to Lunga Malombana and Rozete Van Roy and they qouted that the policy states if the customer does not have a slip then the customer must given a gift voucher if he/she dooes not want to exchange. when I looked at the slip, no where in the terms and conditions does it say customers must be given a voucher if they do not want to exchange the item.

A voucher will not be convenient for me as it will limit me. I honestly expected better from woolworths, better treatment and a less strenuous refund policy. There should be duplicate slips stored on each system in cases whereby customer’s loose their slips. No solution was provided
