unfair payment

I paid them back every month but the loan would not decrease so they advised me to pay using a debit order and so they took R500 every month. August 2015 when I enquired they said the balance was R17200 all my payments amounted to R8500. I enquired again on 15 January 2016 and they told me my balance is R17100. Now my problem is that at this rate I wont finish paying off this loan.
