TREATED LIKE A ********
Today the 06/02/2021, I visited Woolworths Westgate mall CPT before before 1pm to purchase school shoes for my son, the size was wrong and returned to store with shoes before 2pm. At the entrance I tell the security that I want to exchange, the security does not acknowledge me and speaks to someone on the radio(PLEASE CHECK THIS FOOTAGE LOOK AT IT I STOP TO SPEAK TO THIS WOMAN AND SHE ABSOLUTELY IGNORES ME) I tell myself ok guess I can just go ahead with the exchange myself, no exchange sticker? Off I go. I go to the shoe isle and find the correct size, I match up the shoes with the pair I purchased a hour ago and go to the cashier and complete the exchange. I approach the exit and the security, stops me in front of leaving customers and customers entering and tells me I can’t leave and I must go to the security office in the back of the store. At this time I was totally embarrassed and confused. I followed the instruction given, passing customers in store and having to deal with more embarrassment, I have my own business and a few people in store are my customers. When I reached the room, I was advised to go in the room and stay there, a gentleman by the name “Jay” , no uniform , no name tag enters and I felt very afraid being in a room with a strange gentleman and having no idea why iam there. This “Jay” tells me that I am suspected of shoplifting and as I want to explain , iam given no time to speak and explain, this “Jay” was very dismissive and the even closed the door while I was speaking to him, this attitude was a case of him thinking iam guilty and treated me like a ******** before even viewing the footage. It is the attitude of this individual that is brand damaging. The lack of respect affected me as a women emotionally and yes I raised my voice in innocence. So they had to review footage and they assumed at the shoe isle I stole a pair of school shoes, my question is that it took me 15 minutes to enter and try to exit( of the 15 minutes , it took 10 minutes from the shoe isle to exchange the shoe, they had an opportunity to review it whilst I was in store, I was in room for 30 minutes being treated as a common ******** and still have to deal with this lack of respect, after Abdul, the manager enters and I have to leave the room to enter another room ( his office) there iam told the initial footage implicates me of taking shoes out a bag and putting it back, however they reviewed whole footage of when I enter and and they now acknowledge that I enter with the shoes and I stop and speak to security and that I was not acknowledged by security and he apologized. This is unacceptable that they did not review the whole footage before being treated like a ********. This is unbelievable that an institution like Woolworths does not have proper security operations, by this you can see that the security does not pay attention to anything. Is it that iam a women or is it my skin colour that caused me to receive this treatment. The apology given was not sincere and it definitely does not take away from this ordeal I experienced.
