The Woolworths Difference Customer "service"

When we purchase at the pricier option, it is usually because we trust the quality and brand. I purchased a pack of socks from Woolworths Tygervalley, was told I could not return them and I was fine with this policy as the cashier had a quick look to see that they were OK as she rang up, and as mentioned above, there is (was) a level of trust in the quality/brand. However, on getting home, I discovered that at least half of the socks in the pack had holes in exactly the same place - the heel. I took pictures and emailed Woolworths Customer Service telling them about this but also very clearly stating that just asking me to bring them back was not ideal as 1. I had paid full price for a defective product, and 2. I now had to use my time and petrol money to return the product. A customer service liaison, Rhayghaan Noordien, rep**** to my email, apologised for the experience and well, yes, asked me to bring back the product so that they could further investigate. As a loyal Woolies customer, I was quite surprised by this feeble attempt to rectify a problem that was not my fault and that would now end up costing ME- even with a refund! I kindly refused this "assistance" and have not heard anything back. Deeply disappointed as this is no longer about socks, but in fact customer service or rather the lack thereof and a rather loud message that their customers do not matter at all.
