The Price of Management Culture

Today I was informed by the Woolworths floor assistant that the 2m noodles at R12.99/packet can be bought for R5/packet after he confirmed it with his line manager. Yet, the cashier told me it was still R12.99/packet. So, I arranged a meeting between the three - the assistant, line manager and store manager (Sharon) at The Square shopping centre (Benoni, Farrarmere). The line manager denied that she told this to the assistant. Whilst we were having the meeting the line manager left and the store manager allowed it. Then, the store manager offered me 2 of the 4 packets at R5/packet. I declined. When I asked her why does she not honour the statements by her staff she did not answer. She stuck to the view that I am benefitting from the discount. I left the store without 2m noodles. Off course its not a price thing but principle. No accountability, no responsiblity, no leadership. Useless engagement. It may be a personal thing. It could be the way Woolworths operates. I don't think this store manager knows what she actually did. But make no mistake I will share it.
