The other side of your woolworths credit card: Dark and Unresponsive
In 2015 I lost my employment, used my Woolworths credit card to the maximum and could not meet the installments. The net overall effect pushed down my credit score significantly. Over the course of the next 12 months I made erratic payments, not sufficient to reduce the balance and ended up being handed over to their legal counterpart MBD. I made a payment arrangement and started paying monthly towards the outstanding balance without fail. In December 2016 I was offered a settlement which equated to +-75% of the outstanding balance, which I could not meet and kept on paying monthly. In December 2017 another settlement offer of +-R11,000 was made, which I declined and kept on paying. Severely harassed by MDB (Munich Basson Da Gama) telephonically calling 3 or 4 times a day. Myself explaining every time that I am unable to settle but will keep on paying the agreed amount and that I am up to date with payments. I ended contact the governing body, told MDB that and the harassment stopped. In January 2018 I optimistically app**** for a microloan with Capfin which I used to settle another account and kept R10,000 to settle the outstanding balance on the woolworths credit card. I wrote to MDB with my settlement offer. NO RESPONSE. I phoned numerous times and finally got to their contact person that works with Woolworths accounts. She could not find my settlement offer email, I forwarded it to her directly. 2 weeks goes by, various phone calls to MDB, not getting hold of their contact person. Everytime I forward the emails sent to MDB to the person that I speak to. As an indication of my commitment I communicated that I would pay R6,000 towards this account in the meantime that woolworths take the offer serious. No response. Finally I got hold of the woolworths contact person at MDB (Woolworths FS only refers you back to them) and feedback on my settlement offer. It read that the settlement offer would be accepted. When speaking to the MDB contact, it turned out that a further R10,000 is required above the R6,000 paid in good faith. The MDB contact just did not communicate the full information, bearing in mind that a settlement offer of -+R11,000 was made by MDB in December 2017. Numerous phone calls, emails copying woolworths everytime, just NO RESPONSE. Now beginning of May (whilst still paying the agreed installment amount to MDB) NO RESPONSE. I admit it is my fault that the credit card got in arrears. My circumstances improved significantly and my credit profile improving. I want to do right and settle my outstanding credit. I am fed up of making calls, to a provider that advertises how great they are, and on the back end so useless, uncommunicative and non responsive. I doubt I would get a response on this story, but here goes. Bear in mind that I am still so willing to pay the R4,000 outstanding of my settlement, not R10,000 though. If I do not receive a response within 30 days from Woolworths I have no choice but going to the National Credit Regulator, really?? so unnecessary. Lets see woolworths if you are able to respond. My further business though, you will not receive at this point in time.
