Store Card Collection Rejection - Woolworths Centurion Mall

Hi,

I registered online for a Woolworths store card, upon approval I was told to collect my card at my desired store in centurion (Centurion Mall). Unfortunately due to work commitments I could not get to the store and towards month end I had prior commitments in Knysna. I approached the Woolworths store in Knysna for a temporary card, produced my ID (Drivers license) and was in a few minutes furnished with a temporary card, which was said to expire in a months time. I made plans to be around Centurion in the following month to collect my card.

Upon arrival at the store on Friday 27th August 2021 at approximately 11 - 12, I was greeted by two disgruntled women , who at point of meeting I could tell would not assist me at all. I informed them that I wanted to collect my card, produced the relevant ID (Drivers License) as I had given at the Knysna store. They rejected it and requested an official ID, I showed them my damaged ID which they went behind the desk for 5/10min to verify, I subsequently informed them that I also had a passport which they refused to acknowledge and use.

They returned minutes later informing me that they cannot sanction I receive the card and I need to go to home affairs to attain some confirmation of ID, I requested a subsequent temporary card which they refused. I asked them how I can then proceed to settle monies due on the card which they then quickly produced on a written paper my account number and balance spent on the card. I subsequently bought a few things at the store, paid with my personal card and left.

What I cannot understand firstly is why the service at the same retail chain was different?, Why was I treated as if I could not possibly qualify for a Woolworths card? and Why is my Drivers License identification or Passport not good enough to attain the card, all the subsequent credit checks were concluded prior to my arrival ? Surely if Woolworths is confident enough to send me payment due SMS's they are confident that I should have the card in my possession. If the ID was a strong prerequisite surely the Knysna store would have told me about it?

As a country respected business that Woolworths is, I am appalled at the service I received at the Woolworths store in Centurion Mall, most especially due to all the hoops I had to jump through to complete the online verification and the subsequent acceptance of my drivers license at the Knysna store.

Please assist in this matter urgently, as due to COVID restrictions I doubt I will be able to attain anything from home affairs at this time, due to business constraints my time to get to Gauteng again is very limited.
