Shocking service from Woolworths Tygervalley

Went into Woolworths Tygervalley this morning and when we came to pay for our purchases the attendant didn't want to accept our two R20 notes because they were "old". Before the wife could stop her the attendant rushed off with the two notes to get them cleared from elsewhere. We waited for ages before she returned and advised us that they were not allowed to accept the R20 notes. We paid with other money and eventually left. Not before we were looked at suspiciously by others in the queue. Embarrasing. When I got home and mentioned this to others I got the following information given to me. Legal Tender: All South African banknotes and coin issued to date remain legal tender. Previous series of banknotes and coin issues are withdrawn from circulation as they are deposited at the SARB. Any amount in banknotes may be offered for payment. In the case of coin, however there are limits. So perhaps Woolworths Tygervalley would like to review this policy of theirs as, according to the above what they are doing is *******. I will add that the attendant apparently went to some Cash Receiving Section of the Branch who advised her that they could not accept this perfectly legal tender. Sorry, but in future I'll look elsewhere for my purchases as I can do without having to be made to appear like a money laundering *****. Yes, I went off at the attendants for making us wait so long while they disappeared to clear the legal tender but they took ages in coming back.
