Shocking Customer Experience - Woolworths Village Square Durbanville
I went to Woolworths at The Village Square in Durbanville, it was the worse experience and most shocking customer experience I have had being a customer of Woolworths in excess of 30 of years. The management staff at Woolworths Village Square feel that they are doing the customers a favour by being polite. It all started when I went to the Woolies at the Village Square to return the coffee that my wife had purchased the previous day. I did my daily purchases and headed to the tills, where I would change coffee at the same time. The tills supervisor comes to me with an attitude, does not even speak to me about my change of the green bottle Jacobs coffee for the gold label (retail price same). When the cashier rings up my purchases, I noticed an extra charge for the gold label coffee, when I enquired the cashier informed that the supervisor requested her to charge me extra, because the sale ended yesterday. Firstly this supervisor never informed me about an extra charge upon return of product, only upon verification of the till slip and my enquiry that I was informed of the extra charge, when the cashier approached the supervisor to tell her that I was no happy with this, considering the product is the same price for the gold or for the green label, its only about preference. This supervisor sends a message with the cashier to tell me that the sale ended and irrespective of the price being the same at normal retail. It was not that the sale ended and even that the price was the same of the products; it was about this supervisor’s attitude, arrogance and lack for customer centricity. When I asked to see the manager, the supervisor goes to get the manager and after about 10 minutes, a woman approaches me without the supervisor to enquire about my dissatisfaction. No introduction from this woman that calls herself manager, it felt as if these two woman had discussed my dissatisfaction and planned their response, typical friend behaviour. This woman claimed to be the second in charge to the store manager, as the manager had left for the day. This so-called manager’s behaviour was just as rude as the till supervisor. Is this Woolworths new normal for customer centricity?
