Shame on you Woolworths
Disgusted by Woolworths blatant disregard for overcharging me and not wanting to do anything about it. Went to Woolworths Nicolway on Thursday last week. Needed to pay with two cards. I paid an amount from the first card which went through. When it was time to pay the balance with the second card, the teller told me that it was an incorrect tender. After many different supervisors and managers came to the till, it was finally determined that the teller was supposed to use "other" as the payment method and not WFS. At this stage, I was told they cannot fix it. They would have to void the transaction and put it through again. This is where it gets really ridiculous. Whilst unpacking the trolley and re scanning the entire trolley (might I add, this was a very very full trolley) I tell the manager that the first payment went through, I show her the SMS and ask how she proposes I pay again with that same card?? She then assured me that the first payment would reverse because she voided the first transaction. Well, she was completely wrong. When it came time to pay the second time, she insisted on swiping the first card again and then swiped my second card. Now the payment has gone off twice on the first card. She then let me go with her to call WFS, who then said they couldn't do anything. We called ABSA ( who administer Woolies black credit cards) who also said they cannot do anything. The manager Rethabile, then asked me to leave my details and swore that the first amount deducted would refund back to me within 24 hours. Haha, it never did. I called Woolies Nicolway on Friday and asked for Rethabile, who took a long weekend and didn't bother to tell the new manager, Thandi, about my issue, even though she promised that she would call me on Friday. Don't know how she was going to call me if she knew she was taking a long weekend ??. Well, I then had to explain this entire story to Thandi who then said she would investigate and get back to me. She did, and called me to say that the money would only refund in 7 to 10 working days. By this time, I had lost all patience as I don't understand how the teller ( who clearly doesn't know what she is doing) was put on the till in the first place. Rethabile, who made a promise to resolve this and call me, took a long weekend without bothering to fulfill her promises , and now I'm expected to accept my money back in 7 to 10 working days, when this was their error to begin with. Woolworths, you have taken a large sum of money from me, in error, and you are making no attempt to compensate me for your error. What about the interest on the amount you erroneously took a second time . I asked for a number for a senior manager at head office and Thandi called me today to say I am not allowed to get the details. ***. Thandi has tried her best to be helpful but her own head office has been completely unhelpful and belligerent. Tell me Woolworths, are you in the habit of poor customer service and complacency? This was your tellers error and I'm being shoved from pillar to post being told nothing can be done. I'm utterly disgusted!!! Never expected this from a company who supposedly values TCF principals. Shame on you Woolworths ? ?
