Sending bad data to Experian, even when account paid in full
I am trying to apply for a bond and even though I pay my accounts on time with a good credit record.
I am unable to apply through several banks as they can see on their system that I have poor account conduct.
Suprized, I went to take a close look into my account thinking I must have messed up and overlooked something. Transunion...perfect.... Experian "neither good or bad". I then tried to contact Experian to find out what it was. After 5 emails nothing. I then realized that I had a Woolworths credit card that I mess around with but pay on time.
I contacted ABSA....who the card goes through, but they do not have access to the information. I approached Woolworths and to my surprize, even though my account it is up to date and that I pay my account every month, there is a timing issue between when I use my card and they charge it, causing my card to go into excess.
As I get paid on the last day of the month, I budget the payment for then and more than what is needed. Woolworths then reports that I have poor conduct on the account regardless. Furious I demanded this be corrected and that I get a letter of some kind to correct this.
I cut my card up in the store and will no longer be using anything related to Woolworths in future.
I strongly urge to reconsider going to companies like Woolworths for finance, for anything. Club cards are as far as you should go. They unfairly report information regardless of context that is ultimately negatively impacting your credit score below the radar. Rather go to FNB.
Their actions have possibly cost me the ability to apply for a home loan any time soon, but they still get their sales teams to contact me to offer me more credit and to increase the limit on the card that I have poor conduct on.
Listen to someone who has learned the hard way. Woolworths are not worth the effort.
