Selling 2 month old goods

Dear Woolworths Canal Walk,<br> <br> To our dismay, my fiancee and I found ourselves looking at a best before date of 18/11/14 on a tub of ice cream we bought on the 29th of January. Unfortunately, we noticed this as we were throwing the empty tub away.<br> <br> I will be the first to admit that we should have checked the expiry date in store, but at the same time, should the public not be able to trust that their retailer will be removing old goods from their shelves and fridges? Do you not have a system notifying you of the expired goods still on shelf each day? Or someone checking the goods?
