I think its high time consumers fight back. Yesterday I purchased goods from east rand mall branch. the amount was over R 2000. As I was leaving the store there was a beeping sound. Security stopped me and told me he would have to search my parcels. I felt humiliated and very angry. He grabbed my trolley and told me that he would not let me leave unless I could produce a till slip for the goods therein. by now a nice audience had gathered to look. I refused and told him that he was to call the store manager and lay a charge of theft against me if they suspected that I stole. after a heated argument I was allowed to leave. This is not the first time that I as a loyal woolworths client had to endure this kind of humiliation. It turns out that curtains which I had purchased had a small tag hidden inside and the teller whom was too busy chatting to her friend, didn't remove them at the till point. I am going to seek legal advice on how to take this matter further and lay a charge of harassment and defamation against the store. Its high time they either train their staff or get rid of their tags. Why should the client bare the brunt in a open public place..
