Rotten biltong, no refund?!

I bought biltong from Woolworths at the Engen Garage in Highveld, Centurion. The biltong cost R36 for a small packet.

Upon opening the packet, it was evident that the biltong was very rotten, and was a strange yellow colour. I immediately wrote an email to Woolworths informing them of this, and suggested to them that I would like a refund for the biltong at least.

The response I received was just to thank me for letting them know, and not much by way of a personal apology. I don't mind and understand that retailers will make mistakes sometimes, but what irritates me so much is that Woolworths supposeduly prides themselves on fresh produce, and charges an arm and a leg for this; and won't even offer a refund for rotten food?!

I emailed back asking for a refund, but not response. It has been almost a week now, and still no one else has gotten back to me. It is the principle of the matter, and I am annoyed that Woolworths assumes that the average South African has R36 to literally throw away on rotten food; without any offer of compensation!!

This is really not very good service at all, and I feel as though Woolworths does not care about keeping their customers happy.
