Ridiculed at Woolworths Forest Hill Mall -

<p>On Friday the 22cnd of July at about 17:00 I went to Woolworths at Forest Hill Mall to buy a necklace and bracelet for a gala event that I was going to that evening. I had just purchased an evening dress/ gown from a store nearby and wanted to get jewelry from Woolworths to compliment the dress. I went straight to the jewelry section of the store and started looking for a set that would match my dress. As I was looking I was approached by a security guard who pointed at some plastic earring holder lying on the floor and asked where the earrings were. I told him that I don’t know and that I was there to get a necklace and bracelet. I then found what I looking for went to the till and paid for it.</p> <p>As I was walking out of the store, he came to me and asked me not to leave as he thinks that I stole a pair of earrings. I then asked him to search my bag and review CCTV footage as I was running late for the function that was starting at 7pm in Sandton and had to get leave so that I could get to the event on time. </p> <p>To cut the long story short, the security made a spectacle out me. He kept yelling that I know where the earrings are. I have been so embarrassed in my life. He was rude and loud, just downright ill mannered, I was held hostage in the store for a good 30 min, I had to wait for something I knew nothing about .I was ridiculed in front of your staff and shoppers. I called the store manager and explained the whole story to him for a good 15 minutes . All he said to me after everything was that they had reviewed their CCTV footage and that I can go. No apology Nothing. Not from him or the Guard.</p> <p>Nothetheless I got to the event LATE and won an award. I’m a manager at a large corporate who knows and respects the law but because I went to the store not looking so tidy I was accused of theft. I am loyal woolies customer I even have a rewards cards. My experience at that Woolworths was the most horrific ever and it has disturbed me mentally and emotionally. I am seeking legal advice on the matter.
